What do we currently do?

Empowering Through Training and Support

Most notably, the Hadleigh Farm Estate provides training opportunities to over 150 people with specific learning needs who face considerable barriers to employment. This training is paramount in equipping trainees with the skills they need to succeed and thrive. It also runs summer camps and activities for many vulnerable families which is often their only holiday and essential respite.

Preserving Rare Breeds

The Rare Breeds Centre is one of 23 approved Farm Parks working to ensure the diversity of the UK’s livestock by protecting rare breed animals such as Middle White Pigs, Bagot Goats and Leicester Longwool Sheep.

Fostering Community Connections

Community spirit is paramount to Hadleigh’s mission. The team hosts regular weekly groups and family friendly activities which are open to the local community, including the Happy Feet Walking Group and several activities for children.

The future of Hadleigh Farm Estate

The existing training and farm buildings on the Estate are becoming increasingly dated and unsustainable and the team want to evolve so they can help even more people. Therefore, the Church and Charity are exploring options to create a sustainable future for Hadleigh Farm and its operations which could include opportunities to deliver family homes for local people whilst protecting the environment and rural character of the area.

The plans include:

  • Redeveloping the training centre to improve accessibility which will increase the number of vulnerable receiving training
  • Build new and improved community facilities such as multipurpose rooms which can be used by local young people
  • Create several wildlife habitats to enhance tourism and provide a much-needed economic boost for Castle Point
  • Repurposing land that does not provide economically viable crops

Proposed Land Development to Support Future Goals

To achieve this, we are proposing that some parcels of land are allocated for development in the emerging Castle Point Borough Council Local Plan.
